Which Heroes Are Actually Worth Your Time
Updated 7 Aug 2026 · 2 min readThere are a lot of heroes in Last Z and the game does a pretty poor job of telling you which ones matter. I've watched players pour fragments and XP into heroes that gave them almost nothing, then struggle later because their real priority heroes were under-leveled.
Here's the honest breakdown.
UPGRADE THESE FIRST — IN THIS ORDER
Best overall hero. Strong from early to late game. First investment for most players.
90 min free construction + 40% speed buff. Saves weeks of upgrade time. Non-negotiable.
20 free radar events per day from her passive. Core for Wings of Dawn faction builds.
Research speed mirror of Sophia. 90 min free research + 40% boost. Get to 3 stars fast.
55% bonus Alliance Duel points when maxed. Available via hero shop tickets — free. Her passive works from the bench.
S-TIER
Best overall hero in the game. Tanky, great passives, strong from early game through endgame.
DEF boost + troop HP passive
90 min free construction speed + 40% buff. The time savings compound into weeks over a few months.
Construction speed 40% + 90min free
20 free radar events daily from passive. Core attacker for Wings faction builds.
20 free radar/day + ATK boost
Research speed mirror of Sophia. 90 min free research + 40% boost. Pair with Sophia for dual lab efficiency.
Research speed 40% + 90min free
55% Alliance Duel bonus points. Available through hero shop tickets. Her passive works even when she's not deployed.
AD bonus +55% at max skill
Best gathering hero. Increases haul size and march speed for resource runs. Daily grind MVP.

A-TIER
Solid heroes worth investing in after your S-tier core is established. Replace with seasonal heroes when available.
Strong attacker, pairs well with Katrina for Blood Rose builds.
Healing support, useful in prolonged fights and Canyon Clash.
Secondary tank, good for second formation defense.
Solid DPS for Wings faction. Good event performance.
Wings tank option. Fills the Katrina role for Wings players.
Support utility, decent for Canyon Clash defense runs.
Guard of Order attacker. Decent stats, worth building if you're Order faction.
Guard tank, pairs with Chinatsu for Order lineups.
Order support. Niche use in specific event lineups.
B-TIER
Don't invest fragments or XP here. B-tier heroes are gathering mules or fillers only.
SEASON HEROES
Season heroes unlock as your server progresses. Many become S-tier staples — don't sleep on them when they drop.

FACTION ALIGNMENT
Focus heroes from ONE faction. Switching factions mid-game is extremely expensive and sets you back significantly. Pick early, commit hard.
Must Have (Top Priority)
Laura is the one most serious players will tell you to get first. She generates free radar events daily — that alone makes her valuable before you even get into her combat stats. If you're F2P, she should be your first real investment.
Sophia and Katrina are your two core combat heroes. Sophia has research bonuses that make her useful even when you're not fighting. Katrina is a pure power play — strong stats, strong in PvP.
Amelia rounds out the must-have group. Good all-rounder, solid for most content.
Great To Have
Chinatsu is worth mentioning separately because of one specific reason: Alliance Duel. Her skill gives up to 55% bonus points in duel when maxed. She's available through hero shop tickets so she doesn't cost you anything paid. Get her. Max her third skill. Thank yourself later.
Mia is solid for gathering runs if you're doing a lot of resource farming. Not a war hero but genuinely useful for the daily grind.
